Fireproof and The Love Dare

February 28th, 2009 · No Comments · Whatever

I just watched the movie, Fireproof, this week. I had heard a lot of enthusiastic great comments about it; however, I was honestly a bit hesitant about cheesy acting, etc. I have to admit, it was better than I was expecting. It won’t be an Academy Award winner yet considering that most of the actors and crew were church volunteers, I was impressed. The big points go to the story line, though. I thought they did a good job portraying a marriage on the rocks and the slow and frustrating process to restore it. I’ve seen this story too many times in the real lives of people I know.

The bonus was The Love Dare. I hadn’t heard anything about this. We even had the book in our church bookstore and I knew nothing about it. In the movie, it was the catalyst for motivating the husband who’d given up on his marriage to reignite his love for his wife and ultimately win her back. It consisted of a 40 day challenge to each day act according to a biblical principle in demonstrating unconditional love.

I got a copy this week and I’m enjoying it. I figured if it could resurrect a dead marriage, it could only take a great marriage and make it even better. So, I’m recommending you check it out no matter how you would describe the quality of your marriage. And if you haven’t seen the movie, I think it would be worth your time.
