All Eyes On Gov. Palin

September 3rd, 2008 · No Comments · Politics

TwoFaced?

Tonight, Gov. Sarah Palin gets to show the nation who she really is. When she was announced last Friday as Sen. McCain’s VP pick, I hadn’t heard of her. A few minutes after a Google search brought me up to speed. Then her speech from Dayton, OH. I have to say, I was impressed.

Then the barage of media smears. The comparison of Us Weekly covers above is just a sample. Two things stand out to me: 1) she must represent a real threat to a certain group to draw such an onslaught, and 2) her opponents are having to work so hard to find anything that sounds even remotely incriminating.

“Methinks they doth protest too much.”

Tonight, Gov. Palin speaks to the Republican National Convention and the nation. What will she say? Will she get pulled into the mire or will she shame her naysayers in Reaganesque style? Will she choke under the pressure or show herself to be up for the task of VP? I’m going to go out on a limb here and say I think she’ll exceed her supporters expectations and shame her critics.

My favorite quip so far about Gov. Palin this week is her explaining the difference between a pit bull and a hockey mom - a hockey mom wears lipstick.

Only five hours and 29 minutes until we see this hockey mom.
