Actually, the countdown to our family vacation has been going for several months. But this week, the anticipation starting going viral.
Silver Dollar City in Branson, MO has always been our family’s default vacation destination. We’ve been going for close to 25 years so it’s part of our family culture. Now that several of my kids are married, we don’t all get to enjoy SDC together. This year is special. My son and his family from Tulsa, my son and his wife from Phoenix, my other son and twin daughters, my wife and I are all going to be together for 5 days in our favorite place on earth.
This week email blasts began of SDC photo’s and favorite family phrases. We’re all getting giddy. I hope all of us can stay the course in our jobs until we are officially on vacation. One son says he’s determined to not get too sucked into the anticipation - but I don’t think it’s working.
This is the payoff of making family vacations such a great memory builder while all the kids are still home. Even though my kids are now adults, it’s hard for any of them to think of missing an opportunity to share a great vacation together. I thought the best vacations were now just memories. I’m realizing the best are yet to come.
If you’ve still got kids at home, make annual family vacations a non-negotiable. They don’t have to be exotic or expensive - just memorable. That’s mainly a function of just having fun and enjoying experiences together. If you don’t have a family vacation planned for this year, start making plans for one this weekend.

Jealous is the word that comes to my mind!
I know you guys will have a blast as always. Hope the relaxation and fun is a blessing for all of you!
